The Beautiful Top Snail is a marine gastropod in the family Calliostomatidae. It’s one of the “top snails” (so called because of the conical “top-shaped” shell) found in the Gulf of Mexico / western Atlantic region. Typical size: up to ~18 mm this one is really tiny. The top-shaped relatively small spire angle (in this species), whorls flat-sided to concave; coloration tan/mottled with reddish brown spots and lighter streaks; base of shell lighter; umbilicus (central “hole” underside) lacking.
